YouTube isn’t just a video platform; it’s a social media network where people can connect. People comment on YouTube videos to share their opinions, facts, questions and remarks. YouTube comments are one of the features that make it so unique from other platforms. Comments allow viewers to interact with the video and each other in a way that isn’t possible on other platforms. YouTube also lets users like, dislike and reply to each other’s comments.

Unfortunately, the comments section can also be a breeding ground for spammers and trolls. If you manage a large channel, managing comments can be a full-time job. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right strategy, you can manage your YouTube comments and create a positive interaction with your audience.

If you’ve set up your comments to automatically publish without moderation, you can still review them before they appear on the video. This allows you to catch any trolls or inappropriate content before they start harassing your viewers. You can check out all your published comments on the Published tab of your YouTube Studio screen. Comments that are awaiting your approval will appear on the Held for Review tab.

It is important to remember that what you say online can impact your real life, so be careful not to post anything too inflammatory or offensive. If you’re unsure about a comment, you can always edit it. Just hover over the comment to see three dots, and then click Edit to add or remove text. Alternatively, you can also delete the comment by clicking Delete. When you delete a comment, it will be permanently deleted from YouTube.

When you edit a comment, the word (edited) will be displayed next to the timestamp. This will notify viewers that the comment has been edited and should deter them from reporting it as spam or troll-related.

You can also view your own YouTube comment history by visiting your Google Account and clicking Your data. Once you’re there, scroll down a little and click Comments under Manage all history. All of your YouTube comments will be listed here, including the ones you’ve posted on other videos. If you want to view a particular comment, simply click it.

Just as haters are gonna hate and spammers are gonna spam, there will always be negative comments on your YouTube videos. It’s not sustainable or effective to delete every comment that you disagree with, however. Instead, focus on responding to the most problematic ones and redirecting viewers to your website or other resources. youtube comments
